Expansions is originally a live concept, fusing the beats, sounds and technology of dance music with the musicality and improvisational elements of jazz. Keeping it all loose, letting the beats, song structure and arrangements follow the mood and flow of the ensemble on stage and the dancers on the floor. Keeping it live in the true sense of the word.
The core members of the group are Thomas Wingren: percussion, Adam Forkelid: keyboards and Peter Major a.k.a. Opolopo: laptop and keyboards. The concept is scalable, sometimes with Thomas spinning records between sets, sometimes incorporating vocalists and guest soloists. We have had the pleasure to feature some of Sweden's finest jazz musicians as guests: Jonas Kullhammar, Magnus Lindgren, Peter Asplund and Karl-Martin Almkvist have all contributed to the Expansions experience.
Expansions is highly scalable. From a two-man setup to a full-blown five piece combo.
